Base Commander’s
Log—October 08
Greetings, crew!
I’d like to begin by personally welcoming aboard our newest member, Rick
Fukano! Rick, it was wonderful to meet you at our last meeting and we hope
to be spending more time with you over the holidays.
I am so excited this month, because once again Addy Dave has planned so
many events, we've crammed October and November chock full of fun!
First of all, on October 11th many of the SBK members and friends are
attending the Raise the Roof walk at Beech Acres Park to benefit Katie’s
Kids and get a roof over the stables so they can ride all winter! A
special commendation is noted for Second Officer Jan Popp, who
raised a ton of money from sponsors for this event—sis, you ROCK!!
Also, I just purchased our tickets for Starbase Indy this year AND concert
tickets to see the Enterprise Blues Band that weekend—guys, they are SO
great, and Vaughn Armstrong and Casey Biggs will both be attending this
con—in addition to so many other stars like Garrett Wang, Anthony
Montgomery, John DeLancie. We are going to have such a fabulous time!!
See you soon! Love you!
Addy J

New Star Trek
Series?
submitted by Jan Popp
According to StarTrek.com, Bryan Fuller, who wrote for Deep Space Nine
and Voyager, thinks it's time for a new TV series, and he would
like to write for it! He feels TOS was “dynamic and passionate.”
However, he thinks Kirk, Spock, and McCoy should stay in the movies.
"You wouldn't have to be on the same ship or have the same characters as
the original 'Star Trek,'" explained Fuller, "but you could be in the same
timeline and universe.”
He thinks Next Generation is “cooler and calmer” than TOS.
He prefers Deep Space Nine because it was “emotionally
complicated.” He thinks Enterprise was the most sterile when it
should have been the most fun.
