SBK on LJ

Starbase Karma is not your usual deep space station.

Tucked away in a bubble in time (which, strangely enough, is accessible from the greater Cincinnati area), the station and its crew monitor The Timeline and work to repair impending breaches.  Come be a part of the weekly adventure!

Why You Should Join Starbase Karma

We're All About Fun!
We hold "Away Missions" each month--events planned with the membership's interests in mind. An Away Mission might be something as simple as a video marathon at a member's home, a costumed trip to the Ohio Renaissance Festival, attendance at a Sci-Fi Convention here in Ohio or in another state, museum trips, picnics or movie premieres.

We Promote Science and Science Fiction in a Positive Manner
About twice a year our meeting place, The Mary Ann Mongan Library, Covington, Kentucky holds a Media Event which we help staff. These events in the past have hosted such wonderful authors as Joe Haldeman, movie producers such as Gary Wood (Saving Star Wars) and science clubs such as The Mars Society...and they foster topics such as Time Travel, the Colonization of Mars and Sci-Fi Animation and Literature.
Why? Because we believe strongly that the sci-fi of today is the science of tomorrow!

Creativity is The Basis of How We Started
SBK was formed by a core crew of fan fiction writers who still write our "Historical Documents" as well as their own independent fiction. So if you are a writer or artist you have definitely come to the right place!
But of course not everyone's a writer--that's okay. Do you enjoy cos-play, making music videos...or perhaps you'd like to create your own fan film? You'll be right at home here, too.

We Give As Good As We Get
Interested in doing charity work? We do fundraising projects on a regular basis and to whom we contribute is often the subject of crew voting. SBK also takes care of its own, and helps our own members when needed.
After all...that's what being part of a crew is all about: the good of the many, the good of the one...
